The collection of Fredrik Hillbom

by: Fredrik Hillbom

Hello to all collectors of flight gear!!!

My name is Fredrik Hillbom, a 35-year-old guy from Sweden, and I am a collector of all kinds of flight gear, but only from the Swedish Defense "Försvarsmakten" Army, Navy and Air force.

I have been building up my collection for about 15 years now, and it’s getting bigger every month. This is just a small part of my collection you see on these pictures, because I only got a small room in the basement of our house, to show my flight gear. The rest of it is packed and stored. My collection is built on donations from people and friends of mine, working in the Swedish Defense. I have not paid for a single piece in my collection.

My entire collection of Swedish flight gear,
as you can see it from outside of the room.

Mr Airforce pilot, and Mr Army pilot.

The left pilot is wearing the latest model of flight helmet 116 "Flyghjälm 116A" and oxygen mask "Syrgasmask 123".
Then a life preserver "Flytväst 8" containing an emergency beacon, and it inflates
automaticly with contact with water.

This gear is suited for a pilot in the 37 Viggen system. The pilot on the right is an Army helo pilot, and he is wearing an Alpha flight helmet "Flyghjälm 118" and a test uniform for helo pilots. The ejection seat is from J35J Draken.

Sidewinder missile AIM-9L "Robot 24J"

Falcon missile, "Robot 28" used for the 35 Draken system

This is a live missile, where the rocket engine and the explosives have been removed.

AGM-71 TOW missile, "Robot 55" fired from a
Swedish anti tank helicopter (Hkp 9) MBB BO 105.

Actually a friend of mine fired it from his Army helicopter, and picked it up for me in this undamaged condition, in deep snow.

Thanx a lot K-03!

Flight helmet 111, 113, 115, and 116

Different Alpha helmets used in Swedish service. Flight helmet 117,
which is a jet fighter helmet, and different variations of helo flight helmet 119.

Different test helmets, the left helmet is an early version of the
116 helmet and oxygenmask 128, suited for the JAS 39
Gripen system.
The other helmets are early versions of Alpha helmets.

The Flight helmet 116 "Flyghjälm 116" is a Swedish development,

and it is made of carbon fiber and Kevlar, which makes it very strong and light,

(about 1,3 kg depending on size)

The oxygen mask "syrgasmask 123" is a Gentex HA/LP PPB modified for Swedish requirements using helmets without chinstraps.

Test panel for helmets, masks, G-suits, and life vests.

The rest of my flight collection is containing different types of G-suits, flight suits, helmets, life preservers, spare parts, oxygen masks and a jet engine Turbomeca Aubisque RM9B, (Used in the Swedish jet trainer Sk60), and many other things.

I would like to send a special thanks to the following people, who made my collection a reality:

Tommy, Richard, Eddie, Inger, Harry, Kenneth, and all other friends within the Defence "Försvarsmakten"

That’s all for this time.

Thank you for checking out my collection.
